Stockholm Archipelago Earns Another Honor, Named One of TIME’s Greatest Places of 2025

Sweden’s Stockholm Archipelago, known for its expansive landscape of approximately 30 000 islands and islets, was recognized for its new Stockholm Archipelago Trail by TIME as one of the World's Greatest Places 2025.

The 168-mile hiking trail crosses 20 islands in the Stockholm archipelago and offers a unique combination of scenic experiences and local culture. Along the way, there are opportunities to stay overnight at classic inns such as Utö Värdshus, on the island of Utö, where Swedish film icon Greta Garbo was once a guest, and experience other popular destinations such as Sandhamn and Grinda.

In 2024, Stockholm's Slow Fashion District and restaurant VYN in South Sweden were named one of the World's Best Places by TIME. Launched in October, the Stockholm Archipelago Trail has gained significant international attention. In addition to TIME, Stockholm Archipelago made National Geographic's "Best of the World” List for 2025 and was recognized by Good Morning America and the German newspaper WELT, among other publications.
