November 5, 2026 – Restaurant Vyn, led by acclaimed Swedish chef Daniel Berlin, has been ranked No. 23 on The 50 Best Restaurants 2026 list, climbing 24 places from No. 47 in 2025. Located near Simrishamn in Österlen, part of Skåne in southern Sweden, the two-Michelin-starred restaurant is the only Swedish restaurant to make this year's top 50.
The ranking was announced on November 4 at an awards ceremony in Lima, Peru, attended by Daniel Berlin. The recognition marks another milestone for Vyn, which opened in October 2023 and earned two Michelin stars in 2024.
Set near the fishing village of Brantevik, overlooking the Baltic Sea, Vyn – Swedish for "the view" – offers a dining experience closely connected to its surroundings. Berlin's cooking celebrates the landscapes and changing seasons of Skåne, drawing on local produce, foraging, hunting and close relationships with regional farmers and producers.
“We have a wonderful team who put so much care into Vyn every day. Seeing the restaurant recognized in this way means a great deal to us. I’m very proud of what we are creating together here in our corner of Sweden.
At the same time, we are deeply grateful for the support we receive here at home in Österlen. Our local growers, farmers and producers, our partners, guests, neighbors and friends are all part of Vyn. The knowledge, commitment and belief they bring to what we do, mean an enormous amount to us. Without them and the support of our local community, it would not have been possible to create the place Vyn is today,” says Daniel Berlin.
Österlen: A Culinary Destination in Southern Sweden
Vyn's international recognition also draws attention to Österlen, a coastal region in southeastern Skåne known for its fertile farmland, fishing villages, apple orchards and flourishing food culture.
The region's agricultural traditions and proximity to the Baltic Sea have helped shape a vibrant culinary scene, complemented by an emerging wine industry. Visitors can explore farm shops, artisan food producers, local vineyards, cafés and restaurants showcasing seasonal ingredients, from freshly harvested asparagus and locally produced cheeses to apples, traditional Swedish apple juice (äppelmust) and locally produced wines.
Beyond its food scene, Österlen offers sandy beaches, rolling countryside, art galleries and charming coastal towns such as Simrishamn and Kivik.
More Than a Restaurant
Vyn is designed as a destination in its own right. Alongside the two-Michelin-starred restaurant, the property features a 15-room boutique hotel, a food and wine bar, and a private dining space, inviting guests to extend their stay and explore the surrounding countryside.
The restaurant represents a new chapter for Daniel Berlin, who previously ran the acclaimed two-Michelin-starred Daniel Berlin Krog in Tranås, Skåne. At Vyn, his focus on craftsmanship, seasonal ingredients and regional producers continues in a setting that brings together fine dining, hospitality and the landscape of Österlen.
